Lorena is a Washington, DC area native, who has always had an interest in art and design. After receiving a Bachelor of City Planning degree from the School of Architecture at the University of Virginia, Lorena furthered her design studies by obtaining a BFA in Interior Design from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Upon graduation she traveled the country and landed in New England as a kitchen designer. Her kitchens can be found on both coasts and from Calais Maine, to Hilton Head Georgia, and represent a wide range of influences and tastes. She returned to the DC area in 1996 and continued her career as a kitchen designer and was employed as a cabinet manufacturer’s representative. It was through this position that she was first introduced to Jennifer Gilmer and her team, assisting in the opening of Jennifer’s first showroom.
In 2000 Lorena designed and ran a kitchen showroom in the Washington DC Design Center. In 2001 one of her projects was featured in the “What’s Modern Now?” Design House sponsored by Metropolitan Home Magazine. Subsequently she created a design firm with a builder focus, and branched off to create her own design firm in 2003. Her work has appeared in several kitchen and trade magazines. After taking time off to have a family, Lorena joined the Jennifer Gilmer team in 2011.
