Kitchen

Designed by #JGKB. Photography by Robert Radifera.

This kitchen renovation transformed a previously outdated space into a sophisticated and functional

centerpiece, combining modern design elements with a timeless aesthetic. The focus was on improving

flow and creating an open, inviting atmosphere, by incorporating an arched opening that connects the kitchen to the

living room. The original layout was reimagined, removing two windows to make way for a central window flanked by

two mahogany paneled refrigerators, bringing an expansive view of the water into the heart of the kitchen. New

French doors replaced a window and now connects the kitchen to the porch so that these spaces can be enjoyed

simultaneously. The new arched opening complements the existing living room built-ins, and by extending the

Brazilian cherry floors into the kitchen enhanced both rooms.

A Wolf range and custom hood are centered at the new window, allowing for a breathtaking sightline. This striking

curved 75-inch wide brass aproned hood, echoes the brass accents found throughout the kitchen.

The quartzite countertops, which transition to the backsplash at the window sill, end at a ledge that doubles as a shelf

for both function and visual appeal.

A large, stately island centers on the new arched opening and features a curved overhang to allow for more

comfortable seating. The island features mahogany paneled cabinetry on three sides and is complemented with

decorative posts with brass feet. Storage is hidden in the panels on the sides and back of the island.

The perimeter of the kitchen showcases warm white cabinetry. These tall furniture-like pieces cleverly house freezer

drawers, roll-out drawers, tray dividers, a docking station, and ample storage space, ensuring the kitchen is as

functional as it is beautiful.

Along the top of the tall cabinetry, are illuminated glass fronts perfect for displaying art objects or other

cherished items. A carefully curated mix of metals for the hardware continues the brass details throughout the

kitchen on the mahogany cabinets, while adding warmth and contrast of polished nickel on the white cabinets - a

sophisticated contrast which elevates this space’s timeless design.
